Student Loans For College Aspirants
Education holds the key to attaining one’s goals in life. Numerous youth strongly believe in such a simple yet powerful statement. Every year, thousands of teenagers graduate from high school and many hopefuls are making their way to college. It isn’t enough to be just a high school graduate if one would really want to make it big in life.
Although not everyone is financially capable of pursuing a tertiary education, those who excelled in their academics apply for scholarship grants. Of course, in this tough world, not all receive a scholarship grant due to limited funding, and not all can meet the required standards and criteria. For those who are just average students, to say the least, but are very much determined to receive a college education, there are student loans that they could avail of. This is so far the next best step to take when a scholarship grant closes its doors to them.
In case one would encounter problems with a student loan application, one may go to the US Department of Education and refer the problem to the Federal Student Aid (FSA) Ombudsman. The FSA Ombudsman will guide students in paying, consolidating, rehabilitating or canceling their loan. The National Consumer Law Center offers its Student Loan Borrower Assistance Project to those who are keen on applying for a student Loan. Also from the same industry, the American Bar Association runs a website called “Safe Borrowing” to guide those who are new to student loans.
Getting a degree from a local online university or from one that is based abroad also is covered by student loans, but the financial assistance may not be as big as for those who attend conventional schooling since those who study online don’t incur as much expense as those who travel daily to traditional schools. Still, financial aid is rendered to all students who wish to avail.
For those students who want to obtain financial aids from the state where they live, there are numerous sources though not limitless.
Signature Student Loan. A guarantor or a co-signer is needed for a prospective student to avail of this federal loan. Under this loan, if one pays on time and never misses a payment date, the reward is a lowered interest rate.
Career Training Loan. Credit-based, these are loans from private firms which are ideal for those who want to attend online schools or trade schools.
Another reliable loan is the Federal Stafford Loans. First, one doesn’t anymore need to present a credit check to avail of this federal loan. Also an aspiring college student must initially submit a completed form of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The money can be taken from a bank, from an individual lending company or directly from the school where the applicant goes to.
A degree from an online university may not be that far from someone’s reach. With family support, diligence and sheer tenacity, one can have that college degree with the help of student loans.
