Belford University And It’s False Promises
With the many online schools sprouting out from every corner of the world wide web, one can only assume that many are companies operating illegally. The target of these so-called fly by night sites are those who have not yet been around a computer long enough to ascertain truthful information from false promises.
One such company is Belford Academy, which lures in a huge number of unwary students with their claims of accreditation from various agencies. They claim to be accredited by UCOEA (Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation) and IAAOU (International Accreditation Agency for Online Universities); unfortunately these are not recognized by many companies, education facilities and other institutions operating in the US.
Although the company has never really proclaimed being accredited by CHEA (Council on Higher Education Accreditation) and USDE (United States Department of Education); they claim that credits from their school can easily be transferred if students choose to apply in another university or pursue higher education. This is misleading since not all the educational institutions in the US recognize Belford University. You may have a hard time finding a school that will credit for the courses you took with Belford, which ultimately is a waste of money on a student’s part.
Amongst their list of non-government accreditation agencies; Belford is only recognized by two, which is rumored to be operated by the same people running the online university. They are not accredited by other agencies operating in the US. Could it be true that Belford is operating from Pakistan, as what other people claim?
An in depth look at the school’s program shows that the degrees can be earned depending on your life experience. But does this include the odd jobs that you’ve taken in the past, the number of books you have read on medicine, the TV shows that you have watched or the experiences you have with dealing with people? Apparently, yes. But there is more focus on one’s work experience. But having experience does not equate to knowledge; and Belford has somewhat missed out on the difference.
What’s more intriguing is the buy button on their website as well as the 7 day delivery. Does this further prove that the site is just another diploma mill disguised as a legitimate organization that offer education? Of course, the buy button could also be to pay for the courses; but why would a genuine company offer such a crude payment option for their students. Shouldn’t students be registered to view all their account and school information?
Belford University does not have a physical address in the US. They only have PO Box in Texas, and no other contact information is listed in the website. So for those who are looking into enrolling or purchasing a diploma from this website, such be cautious. Do not be lured in by the site’s false promises of jobs because in reality you are wasting your hard earned dollars.
